Milton was a wonderful son that was raised in the hunting culture and
became an ardent outdoorsman, conservationist, and trophy hunter.
On December 4, 2004, as Milton led the way up the ladder of a tower
stand, his hunting partner's loaded rifle discharged and killed
him instantly.
I
am confident that Milton would want to use his tragedy
as a lesson plan. The danger that lurks in our sporting
activities can indeed be minimized and even eliminated
with our individual commitment to safety.
On
the reverse of this note is a set of "Camp Rules" that
I hope that you will adopt and post at your camp. Only
when you explain, understand, enforce and follow strict
firearms safety can tragedies such as this be eliminated.
I
wish you a good hunt and a safe hunt.
Sincerely,
Bill
